Just because someone carries it well, doesn't mean it isn't heavy!
For the Culture, By the Culture
The 40 Tons Foundation's mission is to provide education, resources, and career opportunities for BIPOC communities along with those that have been system impacted, starting with the Cannabis industry.
As victims of the war on drugs ourselves we understand how important it is to change the narrative behind the Cannabis plant. We are not claiming innocence. We are simply saying that the punishments do not fit the crimes.
Why should anyone have to serve a life sentence over a nonviolent Cannabis offense? Or 20 or more years? It just isn't fair. There are thousands of human beings locked away for Cannabis offenses.
Our goal is to ultimately Free the thousands of Cannabis prisoners while a multi billion dollar industry is thriving off of the same thing these individuals are incarcerated for.
It is not only important to get them out of prisoner but provide an opportunity for them to thrive. Our goal is to stop recidivism and provide real opportunities and career paths.
We have various programs and initiatives to help with this. From our Canna Get a Second Chance Cannabis Career Conferences, Prisoner Commissary programs, Partnerships with other justice impacted charities, Letter writing campaigns, and more.
We are NOT some ivory tower organization! We represent those system impacted because WE HAVE been system impacted ourselves.
Every dollar donated helps us bring awareness, implement sustainable impact, and provide opportunities to those that need the help most.
We are a nationally focused organization with hyper focus on the individual local communities we serve. For example, our Conferences are all over the United States but when we come to a city we focus on that community and provide local resources to our local constituents.
In addition, to helping people get jobs, expunge records, and elevate their careers, we also have an area of focus on the incarcerated individual and helping their families. We know the toll that it takes on families when a loved one is incarcerated. Therefore, we have set up programs and events that give back to families during the holidays and all year. Most notably, Canna Christmas, where we help get toys and gifts to the children of incarcerated parents.
We are looking to work good ethical businesses and organizations that truly have a desire to help the communities in which we service. Let's partner and bring more impact to the cities around the country.
